New offering from Kate: Sutra Studies Class and pranayama. Free!

Wednesdays in May from 4:00 – 5:00pm. Kate will be introducing the Yoga Sutras through a discussion of the Yamas & Niyamas, the first two limbs of Patanjali's eight limbs of yoga.

We will be discussing the Niyamas during the May session.

Niyamas, the second limb of yoga, are considered inner personal practices for self-care.

 

Week 1  Sutras 2.40-2.42  Sauca - purity, refinement/Santosh - contentment, peace    

 

Week 2  Kriya Yoga - Sutra 2.43 Tapas - Practice

 

Week 3  Kriya Yoga - Sutra 2.44 Svadhyaya - Reflection

 

Week 4  Kriya Yoga - Sutra 2.45 Isvara Pranidhana - Devotion

 

We will begin with a 5-10 min seated pranayama to settle, quiet the brain and gather ourselves. Sitting in a chair, couch, yoga mat are all fine. Please find a seat that is most comfortable during this time.

 

Our discussion will be approximately 30-40 min followed by savasana pranayama where you will be in a supported reclining position.
